Despite a solid effort, our Fitzroy Doncaster 1st XI couldn't get past Footscray 1st XI on a day to learn from.
Our total was 9/185; Footscray 1st XI's was 2/354. Dylan Kight posted a terrific hundred for our opponents, finishing on 128 not out. Mitchell Jamieson posted an excellent hundred for the visitors, finishing on 120 not out.
Matthew Spoors posted a half-century, making 64 off 55 balls with five fours and four sixes. Max Birthisel returned three for 31 for our opponents.
Not our day, but there's plenty to work with. We'll go again.
