In Kookaburra Men's Premier action, our Fitzroy Doncaster 4th XI lost out to Footscray 4th XI on a frustrating day.
After batting first, we finished on 5/237 from 45 overs. James Heaney's 63 off 66 balls was a half-century to remember. Fifty for Lucas Hales, who finished with 56 off 66 balls. Neel Malangi was still there at the end on 44 off 38 balls.
In reply, Footscray 4th XI passed our total, finishing on 7/239 in 42.5 overs. Kai O'Hehir posted 73 for the hosts, a good fifty. Matthew Netto made a useful 41 for our opponents. Xavier Mitchell was the pick of our bowlers with three for 48. Nicholas Sheridan claimed two for 37 as well.
Not our day, but there's plenty to work with. It's been a tough run, and we'll be working hard to turn it around.
We'll go again.
