It was a tough day out for our Fitzroy Doncaster 2nd XI, who were bested by Essendon 2nd XI at Essendon Cricket Ground in Kookaburra Men's Premier.
Over the course of the match we totalled 7/267, and Essendon 2nd XI 10/295. Matthew Bremner's 110 off 166 balls was a century to savour. Aryan Sharma also got among the runs with 35 off 116 balls. Noah Guida was the best of the hosts' bowlers, finishing with three for 77.
Kobe Smith bowled beautifully for a five-wicket haul, five for 58 off 21.2 overs. Rahul Surendran added two for 40. Liam Tobin made a stylish 123 for our opponents, a century worth applauding. Ethan Brne posted 58 for the hosts, a fine fifty.
Not our day, but there's plenty to work with. We will be looking to get back in the winning column soon. The team will be keen to bounce back.
