On Saturday, our Fitzroy Doncaster 1st XI were unable to get the better of Melbourne 1st XI on a tough day.
With the bat, we made 321; Melbourne 1st XI made 5/483. Jack Rudd led the way with a superb hundred, finishing on 110 off 161 balls. Zachary Elliott passed fifty on the way to 68 off 106 balls with ten fours and one six. Glenn Hannah claimed three for 65 for our opponents. Jack Sullivan weighed in with three for 98 for the hosts.
Braden Taeuber was the pick of our bowlers with two for 89. Our opponents' Farzan Chowna made a stylish 158.
Credit to the hosts, who played well. It's been a tough run, and we'll be working hard to turn it around.
The side will be keen to bounce back.
